In 2023, the Sonoma County Historical Records Commission honored this website with an award: “Paula Freund and Amy Hogan, in the category of Special Projects, were nominated by Katherine J. Inspired by the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum’s 19th century portrait collection, Paula Freund, a former board member of the Petaluma Museum Association, curated the PHL&M’s 2017 exhibit, Portraits of Petaluma Pioneers, Personal Images & Public Stories of a California Rivertown. She subsequently spearheaded and funded this website.
