PHOTOGRAPHER / PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIO:

JOSLIN & COMPANY was established by the photographer Amon James Tuft Joslin. He was born in 1839 in Rockwood, New York, and died in 1913 in San Benito County, California. He established the Petaluma Photo Parlor under the name of Joslin & Company in November 1893, and left the studio, departing for Chico, California in April 1897. Description: This carte de visite portrays a young girl attired in a billowy white dress with elaborate lace short sleeves. In a graceful gesture, she holds both hands in her lap with her fingertips touching. Her dark, shoulder-length hair is center parted. She looks up and to her right with an angelic smile.

Medium: gelatin or collodion photographic print mounted on cardstock

Description, front: This portrait has been mounted on a cream colored card which has scalloped edges. The Joslin & Company imprint appears on the bottom edge in gold colored ink.

Description, back: The back of this card is either empty or contains only an accession number.

Date: November 1893 - April 1897

Condition: This cabinet card is slightly soiled and has distinct foxing spots on the bottom left.
