Biographical Note: Sheppard arrived in California by 1880 and was employed in various occupations in various cities throughout the state. In 1888 he was listed as a photographer in Petaluma and he produced many fine cabinet card portraits during his stay.

Description: Cabinet card of a man's bust in a trompe l'oeil effect of a curling scroll. The man has a moustache, and is wearing a suit with a pin at the base of the tie.
