Biographical Note: Dowe worked in Petaluma as both a “view” and portrait photographer. After leaving Petaluma he worked in San Francisco, operated as a traveling photographer and by 1904, was working to repair musical instruments.

Description: Cabinet card of Albie, Ella, and Clara Whitney. Ella and Clara are wearing dresses with buttons down the chest. Clara sits on a fringed studio chair wearing white tights and leather boots, while Ella stands behind her. Albie stands next to Ella wearing a child's suit. The studio chair, and Dowe's duration in Petaluma dates the photo to the late 1870's.
